Our Approach 🎭

At Artéfakt, we believe there is no distinction between “film” and “stage” acting. Acting is the Art of Being, and Being is the Art of Truth. Our workshops emphasize organic, grounded, and emotionally truthful performances. We work closely with actors to help them connect deeply to their emotional core and make powerful, specific acting choices.

Age Requirement: 16+
Class Size: Limited to 10 participants per group
Each actor receives one-on-one coaching with Magalie prior to working with the Casting Director.

Workshop Format

Feature Films (2-Day Intensive):

  • Day 1: Individual scene work with Magalie in a group setting

  • Day 2: Live personalized feedback on your scene from the Casting Director

Vertical Shorts (1-Day Intensive):

  • 11am-1:30pm: Individual scene work with Magalie in a group setting

  • 1:30pm-4pm: Live personalized feedback on your scene from the Casting Director

Workshop Focus Areas

  • Genre, tone, etc.

  • Script analysis & character development

  • Emotional accessibility & deepening your instrument

  • Physicality: body language & behavior

  • Specificity of choices & active listening

  • Technical on-camera tools: eye lines, voice projection, framing, etc.

  • Audition readiness: wardrobe, props, slates

  • Self-tape techniques & performance discipline

  • Industry insight: headshots, resumes, reels, training

  • Keeping the FUN in a competitive industry

Participant Requirements

To get the most from your experience, please:

  • Memorize your lines. This is not a cold read session.

  • Rehearse and prepare clear acting choices.

  • Be audition-ready (hair, makeup, and wardrobe).

  • Prepare props if applicable.

  • Be ready to take notes and engage fully.

Monika Dalman is a highly respected casting director whose expertise spans film, television, commercial, voiceover, and emerging media formats. Her growing portfolio includes casting for major broadcasters such as CBC, TVO, and PBS, as well as commercial campaigns for more than 50 global brands, including industry giants like Disney/Marvel.

A trusted force in the independent film landscape, Monika has cast projects supported by some of Canada’s most prestigious institutions, including the Canada Media Fund, Canada Council for the Arts, TELUS Storyhive, Telefilm Canada, DGC Greenlight, Harold Greenberg Fund, and Crazy8s. Her versatility extends into voice and motion-capture casting for video games, reflecting her adaptability and forward-thinking approach.

Monika is also a pioneer in the vertical storytelling format, having cast close to 60 vertical projects across North America and internationally. Her work in this evolving medium includes everything from short-form digital series to full-scale, multi-season vertical soap operas with over 50 episodes.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Monika brings a rare level of empathy and insight to her work, informed by her experience as the parent of two successful working actors. She is deeply committed to the actor’s journey—supporting emerging and established talent with compassion, strategic guidance, and a keen eye for potential.

Magalie is an award-winning and award-nominated actor working across Canada in both English and French. Originally from Québec City, she is fluently bilingual and has received extensive training from leading acting studios in Toronto, Vancouver, and Los Angeles.

In 2023, Magalie wrote and starred in her short film Falling, which screened at multiple international film festivals and earned a total of 10 awards, including: 3× Best Lead Actress, 3× Best Romance, 3× Best Director, Best Cinematography.

In 2024, she premiered her solo theatre show Homecumming at the Montreal Fringe Festival, where she received two Frankie Award nominations: Most Promising Comedy and Most Promising Production. The following year, she was nominated for Best French Script and won the Best Narrative award. Magalie is currently touring Homecumming across Canada in 2025, performing both independently and through major Fringe festivals.
